TK. 110 Million Export Order Received in GITEX-2006, Dubai Fair
Three IT companies who participated from Bangladesh in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX)-2006, Dubai received export order of TK. 110 million among which TK. 20 million is confirmed and TK. 90 million is prospective. Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) took the initiative and organised the participation of three Bangladeshi IT companies and the software association BASIS. The participating companies are: Dohatech New Media, ATI limited and Genuity Systems Limited. Bangladesh has been regularly participating in this fair for the last eight years. It is mentionable that the GITEX, Dubai fair is the third largest IT fair in the world. Spread in a huge 62,000 square metre area of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Many first leading IT companies of the world such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Cisco etc. took part in this giant fair. In addition to receiving export order, the Bangladeshi companies were also able to practically learn about the latest advancement in the IT sector of the world. This will help them formulate their future plans in this sector.
It may be noted that the Vice president of UAE who is also the Prime Minister of the country and the Ruler of Dubai opened this giant event on 18 Nov 2006. From the very day of inauguration a huge number of visitors came to Bangladeshi stalls. Most of them were surprised to see the development of Bangladesh in the IT sector and showed deep interest in the software products displayed in the fair. Bangladeshi companies had been able to establish 50 business contacts in addition to receiving export orders. Moreover, a number of one-to-one meeting were also held. Bangladesh Ambassador to UAE H. E. Mr. Nazimullah Chowdhury, Consul General in Dubai Mr. Kamrul Ahsan and Commercial Counselor Mr. Mahmudur Rahman extended all out cooperation, looked after the companies and encouraged them. They assured to provide all sorts of cooperation and assistance in exporting software to Dubai. The Ambassador has said that Dubai is one of the rapidly expanding economies of the world and there is wide opportunity for exporting software there. He has advised the Bangladeshi companies to utilize this opportunity. |
